Our Courses
Our courses are designed with every outdoors person in mind. These courses are not just for hunters or fisherman. We have designed our courses to benefit the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Brownies, snowmobilers, cross country skiers, hikers, climbers, campers, backpackers, orienteerers, canoers, kayakers, boaters, and any body else interested in the outdoors.

We currently offer courses on:

Basic survival
This course is designed to get you through the first seventy-two hours. Statistically most people in a survival situation die within the first twenty-four hours. You will be taught how to utilize what nature provides us with and how to suppliment those provisions with a survival kit..  Some items covered are selecting a shelter site and building a shelter. Obtaining potable water that is safe to drink.   Selecting a site for your fire and building your fire.  Signaling for help.

Next Basic Survival course will be held in CT on July, 10th, 11th, 15th, August 2nd, 3rd, 13th, 28th, 2008. Fee for the course will be $95.00 per person. Course will include a free survival kit #(SM-PSP) http://www.survivalmetrics.com/media/images/product_xlarge/psplarge.jpg from SURVIVALMETRICS.COM. Intermediate survival course
learn to build upon what you have learned in our basic survival course. You will also learn to identify edible wild plants as well as some poisonous plants.  From there you will build your food supplies by learnig how to aquire small game.  Cost $195.00 per person.Course will includ a free survival kit #(NRS-1COMBO)  http://www.survivalmetrics.com/media/images/product_xlarge/NRS1large.jpg  from SURVIVALMETRICS.COM. Advanced survival course
Learn the rule of threes, shelter building, obtaining potable water, learn how to start a fire under any condition and aquire food as well as navigate. You will be constructing primitve traps and making primitive fish hooks.  You will also be introduced to some common edible and medicinal plants. This course requres extreme primitve camping.  You will be sleeping in a shelter that you have built yourself and all skills will be hands on.  After signing up for this course you will be sent a list of items to bring with you.This course may be taken as a one night, two day course or you can select to to a two night, three day course.

Next Course will be held in hopkinton NH Saturday July 19th and Sunday 20th, As well as August 23rd and 24th. Obtaining food
In this course students will learn about the most common edible wild plants as well as how to prepare them as food. Students will also come away with knowledge of the most common poisonous plants and what makes these plants poisonous. They will also learn how to prepare fish and animals for food. Students will also learn how to obtain safe drinking water.

Basic Map & Compass skills
Compass skills are very important because sometimes the gps fails. This course will give a thorough introduction to different types of compasses and how to properly use them, as well as a basic understanding of topographical maps, where to get them and how to read them. Cost $45.00 per person.
Courses are offered most evenings. The course is two consecutive evening about 2 hours each.
Special:  Group of four $120.00.  Contact us to book a time and date.
This is a private course for your family or friends with an instructor.

Advanced Map and Compass skills
This course will combine the use of map and compass to allow the student to confidently navigate through the wilderness no matter where the go.

Land navigation
This course will teach students how to plan routes at home before going on a wilderness outing. Students will learn how to gauge slope of terrain, plan routes to, near, or around terrain features they want to avoid or to see. Bearings and distances will be preplanned so that the may be used in the field and in conjunction with students gps units.

Urban survival
In this course you will learn to find water when you think you are out, keep yourself warm when you have no heat, learn ways of storing food for times when there are prolonged power outages.You will also be tought ways to keep your food stores and family safe during natural disasters and terrorist attacks.  We will also teach you what items you need to keep on hand in your car and in your house.

All courses are set up at beginner intermediate and advanced levels. Courses may also be taken in one day, two day, or overnight options. There is also the option of private courses for additional fees. Different rates apply to different courses and there are special rates for Scouting as well as youth groups. General Group rates will apply for those with groups of six to nine people.
